RAMGOAT PRODUCTIONZ presents -A SUPERCAT SHOW CASE- 12-30-13

http://www.hulkshare.com/viud64nxpa0w

Born to a Black mother and Indian father,[2] Super Cat was raised in Kingston's tough Seaview Gardens neighborhood, then known as Cockburn Pen, home to ground-breaking deejays like Prince Jazzbo and U-Roy.[1] At the age of seven the Soul Imperial sound system allowed him to assist them at a local club called Bamboo Lawn. He auditioned for Joe Gibbs as a singer but was unsuccessful.[3]

He began appearing as a deejay under the name Cat-A-Rock, but soon switched to the name Super Cat.[4] He also appeared as 'Wild Apache'.[4] His first single "Mr. Walker", produced by Winston Riley, was released in 1981 and established his recording career. He went on to record for Jah Thomas ("Walkathon", on which he was billed as 'Super Cat the Indian'),[2] but his career was interrupted by a period of incarceration.[4] After his release he began working with Early B on the Killamanjaro sound system in 1984,[3] and his debut album, Si Boops Deh!, was released in the mid-1980s, and included the hit singles "Boops" (which was based on Steely & Clevie's updated "Feel Like Jumping" rhythm and sparked a craze for songs about sugar daddies),[2] and "Cry Fi De Youth", establishing his style of dancehall with conscious lyrics.[4]

He started his own Wild Apache Productions label and began producing his own recordings, including the 1988 album Sweets For My Sweet.[4] He featured on the album Cabin Stabbin in 1991 along with Nicodemus and Junior Demus.[1] He had been scheduled to perform at the One Love concert in the UK in 1991, but his appearance was cancelled after the shooting death of Nitty Gritty, for which Super Cat was initially suspected but cleared in 1992.[5] Continuing success saw him move to the United States and sign a contract with Columbia Records, releasing one of the first dancehall albums on a major label, Don Dada (1992).[4] The following year, Sony Music issued The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, and the Crazy, teaming Super Cat with Nicodemus, Junior Demus and Junior Cat.[4]

Super Cat had a number of hit singles in the early 1990s, including "Don Dada", "Ghetto Red Hot" and "Dem No Worry We" with Heavy D. In 1992, he was featured on the remix of "Jump" with Kris Kross,[5] and he also collaborated with them in 1993 for their song "It's Alright". These hits made him The Source magazine dance hall artist of the year in 1993.[1] He was also an early collaborator with The Notorious B.I.G., featuring the then unknown artist (along with Mary J. Blige, 3rd Eye and Puff Daddy) on the B-side remix of "Dolly My Baby" in 1993.[citation needed] The title song, "Don Dada" was a reply to many jabs made by Ninjaman.[citation needed]

His version of Fats Domino's "My Girl Josephine", performed with Jack Radics, was included in the soundtrack to the film Prêt-à-Porter in 1994.[4] In 1997 he was featured on the number one hit "Fly" by Sugar Ray from their platinum album Floored.[4] He collaborated with India.Arie on her hit song "Video" in 2001, and with Jadakiss and The Neptunes on "The Don Of Dons" in 2003. Also in 2003, he collaborated with 112 for their song "Na Na Na Na". Following the death of his long time road manager Fred 'The Thunder' Donner in 2004, Super Cat released a multi-cd tribute album entitled Reggaematic Diamond All-Stars that featured contributions from Yami Bolo, Michael Prophet, Linval Thompson, Nadine Sutherland and Sizzla among others.

Super Cat reappeared on the national reggae scene in 2009 for a show at Madison Square Garden with Buju Banton and Barrington Levy. He also headlined the 'Best of the Best' concert in Miami in 2008, with Assassin, Etana, Barrington Levy, Buju Banton, Junior Reid, Tony Matterhorn, Sizzla and Beenie Man.

In 2012, his song "Dance Inna New York" was sampled for Nas' single "The Don", from the rapper's album Life Is Good, with Cat adding vocals to the hook.

Super Cat made a surprise appearance at Massive B's On Da Reggae Tip concert in September 2013 during the set of Shaggy. That same week, a mix of his work previously recorded during his time with The Neptunes label was released to the internet

RAMGOAT PRODUCTIONZ presents -A Mandela Tribute- 1918-2013

http://www.hulkshare.com/ry2tiiwhhaf4

Mandela was born on 18 July 1918 in the village of Mvezo in Umtatu, then a part of South Africa's Cape Province.[3] Given the forename Rolihlahla, a Xhosa term colloquially meaning "troublemaker",[3] in later years he became known by his clan name, Madiba.[4] His patrilineal great-grandfather, Ngubengcuka, was ruler of the Thembu people in the Transkeian Territories of South Africa's modern Eastern Cape province.[5] One of this king's sons, named Mandela, became Nelson's grandfather and the source of his surname.[6] Because Mandela was only the king's child by a wife of the Ixhiba clan, a so-called "Left-Hand House", the descendants of his cadet branch of the royal family were morganatic, ineligible to inherit the throne but recognized as hereditary royal councillors.[6] His father, Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa, was a local chief and councillor to the monarch; he had been appointed to the position in 1915, after his predecessor was accused of corruption by a governing white magistrate.[7] In 1926, Gadla, too, was sacked for corruption, but Nelson was told that he had lost his job for standing up to the magistrate's unreasonable demands.[8] A devotee of the god Qamata,[9] Gadla was a polygamist, having four wives, four sons and nine daughters, who lived in different villages. Nelson's mother was Gadla's third wife, Nosekeni Fanny, who was daughter of Nkedama of the Right Hand House and a member of the amaMpemvu clan of Xhosa.[10]

"No one in my family had ever attended school [...] On the first day of school my teacher, Miss Mdingane, gave each of us an English name. This was the custom among Africans in those days and was undoubtedly due to the British bias of our education. That day, Miss Mdingane told me that my new name was Nelson. Why this particular name I have no idea."
— Mandela, 1994[11]

Later stating that his early life was dominated by "custom, ritual and taboo",[12] Mandela grew up with two sisters in his mother's kraal in the village of Qunu, where he tended herds as a cattle-boy, spending much time outside with other boys.[13] Both his parents were illiterate, but being a devout Christian, his mother sent him to a local Methodist school when he was about seven. Baptised a Methodist, Mandela was given the English forename of "Nelson" by his teacher.[14] When Mandela was about nine, his father came to stay at Qunu, where he died of an undiagnosed ailment which Mandela believed to be lung disease.[15] Feeling "cut adrift", he later said that he inherited his father's "proud rebelliousness" and "stubborn sense of fairness".[16]

His mother took Mandela to the "Great Place" palace at Mqhekezweni, where he was entrusted under the guardianship of Thembu regent, Chief Jongintaba Dalindyebo. Although he did not see his mother again for many years, Mandela felt that Jongintaba and his wife Noengland treated him as their own child, raising him alongside their son Justice and daughter Nomafu.[17] As Mandela attended church services every Sunday with his guardians, Christianity became a significant part of his life.[18] He attended a Methodist mission school located next to the palace, studying English, Xhosa, history and geography.[19] He developed a love of African history, listening to the tales told by elderly visitors to the palace, and became influenced by the anti-imperialist rhetoric of Chief Joyi.[20] At the time he nevertheless considered the European colonialists as benefactors, not oppressors.[21] Aged 16, he, Justice and several other boys travelled to Tyhalarha to undergo the circumcision ritual that symbolically marked their transition from boys to men; the rite over, he was given the name Dalibunga

Bob Marley - Ambush In The Night voL#4

Bob Marley was born on Feb 6th, 1945, in a small little shack, in Rhoden Hall, which is in the northern part of Jamaica. His mom at the time was an 18 year old Jamaican native, and his dad was a 50 year old white navel captain. The couple got married in 1944 a year before Bob was born. Norval Marley, that was his dada's name, never really saw his son because his family did not accept the marriage. So after about the age of five or maybe six Bob Marley never saw his father again. A couple years after that Bob Marley was sent to a private school to get away from the "rude boy" gangs that were running rapant in the Jamaican streets, although he got away from it in school, when at home he learned the ways of a rude boy, one of his first and greatest songs "Simmer Down" showcased how Bob was also known as a rude boy, and would fight back if ever pushed.

Bob Marley has been a great influece in the lives of many present day musical artist, poets, actors, and other performers. Some of the people he grew up listening to in the trenches of Jamica are, the legendary Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, the Drifters, and the likes of Louis Jordan. Early on in his career he tried to somewhat imate the styles of this singers, by following the same style of singing as them.

Bob Marley would put his first record out on wax in Febuary of 1962, the song was called "judge not." If you ever have heard the song before you'll notice how loud and scratchy the song sounds, but at the time that was what popular music sounded like, fast paced, with a ska beat in the background, and something to dance to. When it came out it was an instant hit locally, but his international fame would not spread for a couple of years.

Now lets skip to the really good stuff in the career of Bob Marley! Why are we skipping to the good parts, because there is a lot of somewhat boring details, and I don't want the attention deficit people to leave, and because it is my page, I can do what I want!! OK, in 1969(skipped a little)the Wailers first tape was recored, they were sent to England and released on Trojan records, it was Bob Marley and the Walers first album, it was called Soul Rebels and included classic tracks like, Soul Almighty. This album was only released in Jamica and England, the album sold well. In the early seventies Bob Marley and the Wailers were already pretty popular throughout the Caribbean region, but there music had not hit pay dirt in America and would just begin to travel to Europe. There first commerical start would come in the form of Catch a Fire, which would be released by their new record company(Oh I forgot to mention in the parts I skipped the Wailers were signed by Maroon records, and then CBS) Island. This album would be the new standard of what reggae music would be like, and was thought to be the new music sound that would sweep the world, rave reviews by the press didn't hurt them too bad either!

Excuse me while I skip a couple years! To coin a song, after the release of Catch a Fire, numberous hits followed like, Burnin', Natty Dread, and then the Famous live concert at Lyceum, where Bob's most world famous song, No Woman No Cry, was recorded. In 1976 Rastaman Vibrations was released and the album cracked the American charts. At this point it seemed like Marley was unstopable, and nothing could tare him down, then like a movie script, things started going bad for him.

In December of 1976, an Assassination attempt took place at his house, A gang of sorts tried to take the entertainer out for reasons that are still unclear till this day, Marley was shot, but of course it was not a deadly wound. A even bigger album than Rastaman Vibration came out called, Exodus, this would stay on the European charts for 56 weeks, and again everything seemed alright, but of course like a movie script things went wrong, in May of 1977 during the Exodus tour he was playing football with a french team and he injured his toe, for a second time. The injury never healed, and he never got it treated and continued on his tour. He finally got it checked out, and the doc said it needed to be amputated, but that of course is a Rasta no-no! In 1978 the chart topper Kaya came out, and the band saw success once again, but this joy would not last to long for Marley. In the same year he traveled to Ethiopia to only find out that his God Rastafari was dead and buried in an unmarked grave. The next year Survival was released, this album was a pro-Africa album, and had songs relating to what was happening in Africa at the time. Time however was runnign out for Bob Marley, and he new it as well as I know there is time running out on this page!

In 1980 Uprising was released and was an instant hit,on a personal note this was the first Bob Marley album I ever heard, around 83' or 84.' In 1980 a tour with Stevie Wonder was being planned and was going to be the biggest of his career. Unfortunatly that little soccer injury that had hurt him so much in the past had came back in the form of Cancer, it was spreading throughout his entire body now, and Bob new it looked grim. His last concert would be in Pittsburgh on Sept. 23, 1980 at the Stanley Theater. He would undergo many diffrent treatments to keep him alive longer, but on May 11th, 1981, Bob Marley died, age 36. Although he was dead his music was not, in 1983 the third part of a triology of cd's called Confrontation. The first two cd's in the triology made by Marley started out with Survival and then Uprising.

Although Bob has been dead for years, his music lives on through the music of diffrent artist including,Ziggy(now a one name figure also), Julian Marley, Damian Marley, Wyclef Jean, and plenty of other artist who have sampled his classic material. Bob Marley not only was one of the greatest musicans in the history of music, he is also one of the greatest men in the history of the world, through his music he not only touched the life of his fellow countrymen, he has influenced the lifestyles, attitudes and feelings of people all over the world, and I am one of the many that have been touched and affected by his powerful message!
